3D Printed 4Runner Makes Debut at National Swimming Championships

A 3D-printed Toyota 4Runner made waves when it was used for the first time on a camera dolly at the 2025 Toyota National Swimming Championships to film the event.

The miniature 4Runner TRD Sport, which weighs about 30 pounds, was made at the Toyota Production Engineering Manufacturing Center (PEMC) and involved team members from Stamping Engineering, Additive Lab and Paint Materials Engineering.

The miniature was designed from the same computer models used to manufacture the real vehicle, just scaled down, stretched and massaged to fit the shape of a camera dolly.

It took 15 days to 3D-print the 4Runner, which was printed in two pieces — the front half and back half, joining together where the front and back doors meet.

The printer, a Stratasys F900, printed over 3,000 layers for the model, which is over four feet long bumper to bumper.
