The Sporty Toyota Corolla Hatchback Shifts into 2025

The 2025 Toyota Corolla Hatchback combines style, technology, and a fun-to-drive quality into an affordable, efficient package that’s ready for the road ahead. The sporty hatchback is low to the ground, lightweight and sure to make a lasting impression that inspires drivers to go out and make more happen.

Available in SE, Nightshade and XSE – there are plenty of sporty grades for customers to choose from. The SE model sits on 16-inch alloy wheels, while the Nightshade sits on stunning 18-inch bronze-finished alloy wheels. The XSE has a different style with 18-inch graphite-colored alloy wheels.

All Corolla grades come standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 and an 8-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia system, including standard wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility.

Bold Silhouette
Corolla Hatchback’s bold look begins with a rounded, muscular physique accented by chiseled character lines and simple, condensed three-dimensional highlights. Combined with the 16- or 18-inch wheels, the shape gives the Hatchback an active, well-planted attitude. Slim, aggressive LED headlamps wrap deeply into the front fenders and give Corolla Hatchback a distinct expression. The LED taillamps feature a diffusing inner lens designed to highlight the Hatchback’s stout stance. The XSE features LED fog lights to the front fascia accented by chrome-finished fog bezels.

Naturally, the Hatchback is practical, starting with the hatch itself. Lightweight and simple, the hatch is easy to open and close. The available Enhanced Cargo Space option adds six cubic feet of space by lowering the cargo floor, made possible by switching out the spare tire for a tire repair kit.

Exterior color options include Blue Crush Metallic, Inferno, Midnight Black Metallic, Classic Silver Metallic, Finish Line Red, Magnetic Gray Metallic, Wind Chill Pearl, and Ice Cap. Two-tone color combinations are also available with a Midnight Black Metallic roof to further heat up Corolla Hatch’s striking good looks.



Complete Driver’s Package
Toyota designed the Corolla Hatchback as a complete driver’s package, with a seamless combination of comfort and sporty controllability that begins with its TNGA-C platform. The structure employs extensive use of aluminum and high- and ultra-high tensile steel. A mixture of adhesives, spot welding and additional bracing – top to bottom, side to side –create a super-strong, super-tight platform for ride comfort and handling agility.

The MacPherson strut front suspension employs sophisticated techniques, including a strut bearing mounted coaxially with the kingpin axis. This feature allows smoother upward suspension travel, especially while traversing bumps, resulting in comfortable steering feel. The multi-link rear suspension is highly adept at comfortably absorbing bumps while prioritizing agility. The result: A Corolla Hatchback that delivers an uncanny blend of balance, composure and feel that invites the driver to seek out twisty roads.

Powertrain and road noise are hushed thanks to drivetrain efficiencies and the widespread deployment of sound-absorbing materials, including Thinsulate®, sealants, foams and silencer pads. As one example, the floor silencer pad is one large piece, instead of many smaller elements. The TNGA-C platform employs additional seals in body gaps to insulate noise penetration and enhance air-sealing performance. Even Corolla Hatchback’s Aero Stabilizing Fins on the taillights help by combatting wind drone.

Dynamic-Force Engine
The 2.0-liter Dynamic-Force direct-injection inline four-cylinder engine delivers exuberant performance with 169 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 151 lb-ft. peak torque at 4,800 rpm. Its features read like those of a sports car: very high compression ratio (13:1), ultra-low internal friction, Toyota D4-S fuel injection combining direct injection and secondary port injectors, high-speed combustion and VVT-iE intelligent variable valve-timing on the intake side and VVT-i on the exhaust. (VVT-iE uses an electric motor instead of oil pressure to control the variable valve timing.)

Features like a rigid crank case with integrated stiffener, a lightweight resin camshaft cover and a ribbed oil pan help to make the engine a smooth operator. With all the fun comes the bonus of low fuel consumption, with manufacturer-estimated 32 city / 41 highway / 35 combined MPG for SE grade and 30 city / 38 highway / 33 combined for XSE grade. Automatic Stop/Start reduces fuel usage in urban driving.

A continuously variable-capacity oil pump and a variable cooling system with electric water pump help maximize engine performance and efficiency.


Maximize Comfort

The standard analog gauge cluster houses a 4.2-inch Multi-Information Display between the tachometer and speedometer. The available 7-in digital gauge cluster allows the driver to choose between multiple speedometer styles customizing their driving experience.

Featuring rich graphics, the easy-to-read digital gauge cluster can be customconfigured by the driver and offers intuitive operation to access information for the audio and multimedia systems. This includes hands-free phone operation, navigation and vehicle information including fuel efficiency, tire pressure and TSS 3.0 functions. Other important parameters and system settings are also available, and the driver can operate the system via steering wheel-mounted controls and voice command.

The Corolla Hatchback cabin is equal parts sporty, elegant and, as always, Corolla-comfortable and durable. Minimized gaps between buttons and switches and consistency in all materials and elements’ shape, color, grain and gloss help maximize continuity and aesthetic quality. High-gloss materials are paired with matte elements – silver-colored accents with Piano Black and available contrast stitching – to accentuate a premium look and feel.

The center console incorporates a tray ahead of the gearshift that can hold small items such as a smartphone or wallet. When the car is so equipped, the tray serves as the Qi wireless device charging area. A 5.5-inch smartphone can easily fit inside the center console box.

Seating comfort, always a Toyota strength, is optimized in the Corolla Hatchback to provide a natural body posture and position. Ample front door storage includes cup holders that can fit 24-ounce bottles. Rear seat passengers have upper door cup holders that hold 16-ounce bottles.

The Corolla Hatchback SE grade comes standard with single-zone automatic climate control, an electronic parking brake, automatic up/down power windows and two front and two rear USB ports.

The XSE grade comes with dual-zone climate control, fabric/SofTex® trimmed seating, unique stitching on the instrument panel and doors, heated front seats and an eight-way power driver’s seat standard. All grades come with paddle shifters standard.

Next-Level Technology
All Corolla models come with the 8-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia system. With an active available Drive Connect* trial or subscription, drivers can interact with the system through touch and voice activation. With Intelligent Assistant available through Drive Connect*, simple phrases like “Hey Toyota” awakens the system for voice-activated commands to search for directions, find Points of Interest (POI), adjust audio controls, change the cabin temperatures and more. Over-the-Air (OTA) updates will also be available.

The Toyota Audio Multimedia system allows dual Bluetooth phone connectivity, with support for standard wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility. An available Wi-Fi Connect* subscription offers 4G connectivity for up to five devices, turning the car into an AT&T Hotspot, along with the ability to link customers’ separate Apple Music® and Amazon Music subscriptions to the vehicle with the new Integrated Streaming feature. This augments the already robust audio playback ability that includes HD Radio, USB data and a SiriusXM® 3-month trial subscription.

The SE and Nightshade audio system includes six speakers. The audio experience goes to a higher level with the JBL® Premium Audio system with 8 speakers and an 800-watt amplifier that comes standard on the XSE.

All Corolla models offer a host of Connected Services available on all grades. The up to 10-year Safety Connect* trial includes an Emergency Assistance Button (SOS), 24/7 Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification and Stolen Vehicle Locator. The up to 10-year Service Connect* trial provides drivers the capability of receiving Vehicle Health Reports, Maintenance Alerts and reminders. The 2025 Corolla Hatchback comes with the robust Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. This safety suite includes:

  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection: Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD) is designed to help detect a vehicle, pedestrian, bicyclist, or motorcyclist and provide an audible/visual forward-collision warning under certain circumstances. If you don’t react, the system is designed to provide automatic emergency braking.
  • Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control: Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) is an adaptive cruise control system that is designed to be set at speeds above 20 mph. DRCC uses vehicle-to-vehicle distance control to help maintain a preset distance from the vehicle ahead of you.
  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist: Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA) detects lane markings or the road’s edge at speeds above 30 mph. LDA w/SA is designed to provide an audible/visual warning if an inadvertent lane departure is detected. If no corrective action is taken, Steering Assist is designed to provide gentle corrective steering for lane-keeping assistance.
  • Lane Tracing Assist: Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) is designed to help keep the vehicle in the center of a lane. LTA assists the driver with steering control while DRCC is in use.

  • Proactive Driving Assist: Proactive Driving Assist (PDA) uses the vehicle’s camera and radar, when system operating conditions are met, to provide gentle braking and/or steering to support driving tasks such as distance control between your vehicle and a preceding vehicle, pedestrian, or bicyclist. The “Toyota Land Cruiser Get Back Challenge” Spotlights Adventure and Discovery

 There’s a saying that if you want to go into the wild, any truck can take you. If you want to get back, take a Land Cruiser. Toyota put that to the test with its new Land Cruiser marketing campaign featuring award-winning actor Hilary Swank and actor/comedian Jimmy O. Yang. Hilary and Jimmy go through a series of challenges, each with a Land Cruiser to see if they can “get back.”

The anchor of the campaign is a three-minute short film presenting the “Land Cruiser Get Back Challenge.” It begins in dramatic fashion with helicopters dropping the Land Cruisers onto a snowy embankment, with Hilary (and her friend Deon Taylor) and Jimmy (joined by his father Richard Ouyang) removing their blindfolds to see the trucks ready for action.

Each team takes a unique path to get back to civilization with various obstacles and terrain along the way. They are provided a satellite phone as a last resort if they are lost or stuck. But if they use it, the adventure is over. Team Jimmy takes on the mountains while Team Hilary traverses through the high desert.

“I love the outdoors and I love trucks,” said Actor Hilary Swank. “So driving the new Toyota Land Cruiser in the Land Cruiser Get Back Challenge was a blast! I ended up on a really rocky and muddy course during the Challenge and the Land Cruiser adapted over everything incredibly well.”


Through each challenge, the participants see first-hand the rugged capability of the Land Cruiser. While Hilary and Deon climb a steep mountain grade, the Multi-Terrain Monitor system on the head unit display provides additional guidance on the path ahead. They also rely on the powerful iFORCE MAX powertrain and Full-Time 4WD in muddier conditions.

For Jimmy and Richard, this adventure provided a way for them to spend time together in the outdoors, while also introducing them to unfamiliar driving conditions, like packed in snow. Features like Multi-Terrain Select and crawl control become staples to navigate their slippery situations.

“I was excited to go on an adventure in the Land Cruiser, but it was a challenge of a lifetime to survive my dad’s complaints in the wilderness,” said Actor/Comedian Jimmy O. Yang. “It wasn’t an easy journey, but it was a great father and son bonding experience that we’ll never forget.”


The scenic backdrop of the “Land Cruiser Get Back Challenge” provides iconic imagery, fitting with places Toyota customers are used to seeing the iconic legend. Launched in 1958, the Land Cruiser set the standard with the reliability, durability, and platform from which all Toyota trucks are modeled. But Toyota hopes the marketing campaign for the all-new 2024 Land Cruiser will showcase its rugged heritage and durability to a new generation of adventurers.

Toyota Recognized in The Civic 50 For Second Consecutive Year


When it comes to social impact, civic engagement, and keeping community at the core of its business, Toyota North America* is recognized by Points of Light as a top community-minded company. This is the second year both Toyota Financial Services (TFS) and Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) have collectively ranked on The Civic 50 as a unified submission. Previously, TFS earned a spot on the list for seven consecutive years.

Points of Light, the world’s largest nonprofit dedicated to accelerating people-powered change, has included Toyota North America in its Civic 50, which sets the standard for corporate civic engagement and creates a roadmap for companies seeking to best use their time, talent and resources to improve the quality of life in the communities where they do business.

All-New Motorsports Campaign Celebrates Greatness in Us All


Toyota’s calling all fans who crave the adrenaline, who possess that exceptional spark, who want to be part of something greater, in the all-new motorsports advertising campaign “Scouting for Greater.” The energy-filled creative bursts with themes of overcoming obstacles and adversity while captivating fans’ emotions and passion for the sport.

All ages and backgrounds are invited to join Team Toyota drivers as they uncover their greatest potential showcased across seven spirited spots that launch throughout 2024. The creative was developed to welcome emerging fans with the underlying theme of the pursuit of greatness. The campaign flight is divided into three flights: to capture the excitement of the start of the racing season, summer racing, and the playoffs.

“Scouting Season” debuted in February to kick-off excitement around Daytona 500. The anthem spot showcases Team Toyota drivers from Toyota’s world of racing with featured vehicles and drivers from each series such as, NASCAR, NHRA, Formula Drift, GR Cup, and ARCA to name a few. The ads were created by Saatchi & Saatchi and directed by Ben Carter from What Not Films.

“Ladylike” gives new meaning to the title with a standout roster of female Toyota drivers featured in the spot. With synergy to “Sisterhood of Speed” that debut last year during racing season, viewers see familiar faces such as NASCAR ARCA Driver Toni Breidinger and NASCAR and TRD Development Driver Isabella Robusto. Drivers Alexis DeJoria and Jade Avedisian also make an appearance. Three spots, “Ladylike,” “Ascension” and “Rain,” launched on May 3 as part of the summer creative and will run through August.

“I’m really excited to be a part of Toyota’s commercials this year,” said Driver Toni Breidinger. “Growing up, I didn’t see many commercials featuring female racers – or someone who looked like me. Representation is so important in empowering women and minorities. I hope by even catching a glimpse of the commercials, it can leave people feeling validated and encouraged to live boldly.”

With Toyota’s goal of ‘Mobility for All,’ the Toyota Racing team developed an accessible pit box at select NASCAR racetracks. In “Ascension,” viewers see the Toyota-created Mobility Pit Box in action throughout the spot featuring drivers Bubba Wallace, Doug Kalitta, J.R. Todd, Taylor Reimer, Toni Breidinger, and Jade Avedisian.

The Mobility Pit Box was inspired by Olympian BMX cyclist Sam Willoughby who suffered a career-ending injury in 2016, which led to his use of a wheelchair. Being an avid motorsports fan along with his wife Alise Willoughby, a Team Toyota Athlete and Olympian BMX cyclist, Sam faced pit road wheelchair limitations when attending racing events as a guest.

“During an amazing race weekend experience, the one thing I couldn’t experience was viewing the race from the pit box,” said Sam Willoughby. “Toyota took that to heart and ran with it. A lot of people who have injuries like mine struggle in the heat and so this inspired them to build a fully accessible pit box with air conditioning and a lift. It’s just an amazing experience and it’s going to provide a lot of hope.”

In the spirit of ‘Mobility for All,’ Toyota opened the experience to all NASCAR industry partners and sponsors who sign up to utilize this unique addition for their guests during race weekends.

The campaign, titled “Scouting for Greater,” began in February and will run through the November 2024 playoffs.

Toyota Establishes Hydrogen Headquarters to Accelerate Advancement of Fuel Cell Technology

 


  • H2HQ teams to lead NA region’s efforts to research, develop, commercialize and sell fuel cell and hydrogen-related products
  • Renovated facility provides a refreshed office workspace, with plans to add features in the future, including a flexible microgrid, customer education center and more

Reaffirming its commitment to support fuel cell and additional hydrogen-related products and technology toward a hydrogen economy, Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) today announced that it is renaming the TMNA R&D California office as its new North American Hydrogen Headquarters (H2HQ). The office workspace at the new H2HQ was recently redesigned for its teams working from research and development to commercialization planning and sales of hydrogen-related products and technologies. There are plans to add key features to the H2HQ campus in the future such as a flexible microgrid, sustainable customer education center and more.

“Toyota has developed hydrogen fuel cell electric solutions for more than three decades, and we will continue to advance this scalable, zero-emission technology as part of our electrified portfolio,” said Ted Ogawa, President and CEO, Toyota Motor North America. “Renaming this facility as North American Hydrogen Headquarters represents our leadership in fuel cell development creating real-world products to help reduce carbon emissions.”

Last year, Toyota Motor Corporation reorganized its hydrogen business in Japan to create what it calls “Hydrogen Factory” with the idea to bring all hydrogen-related work under one location and accelerate customer-oriented product development and production in fuel cell or hydrogen-related products. Then, Toyota Motor Europe announced its own “Hydrogen Factory” with the aim to further grow Toyota’s hydrogen business and stimulate wider roll-out of hydrogen ecosystems and infrastructure across Europe.

H2HQ will drive North American-led hydrogen initiatives and support the localization of global hydrogen-related technologies and products that include light-duty fuel cell applications, heavy-duty fuel cell opportunities, stationary fuel cell power generation, port vehicle applications and more. The facility already provides impressive research and development assets, including Toyota’s largest dynamometer (1.2 MW), a scalable test bench for stationary applications, and a hydrogen fueling station capable of providing fuel for both light- and heavy-duty vehicles. Moreover, as part of its plans to remain and grow fuel cell leadership, NA H2HQ will be home to several new projects in the coming years.

“I’m very pleased that Toyota is building on its longstanding commitment to California by locating its North American hydrogen headquarters here in the Golden State,” said California State Senator, District 29, Josh Newman. “The work done there, along with green hydrogen initiatives throughout the state, is propelling California toward a dynamic, clean-energy economy which will also reduce carbon emissions and foster environmental stewardship while extending California’s leadership in this important space.”

Construction has begun on a flexible microgrid that features energy sources available today, including a 230-kW solar photovoltaic system, a 1-MW stationary proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell generator, 325-kW solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC), and an onsite 500-kWh battery energy storage system. The microgrid is designed to support the campus’ energy needs, allowing it the ability to operate off-grid. The system is expected to be fully operational by 2026.

“California has ambitious goals to achieve clean air, carbon neutrality and a vibrant economy. Toyota’s investment to expand their research and development of hydrogen fuel cell technology in our state is an example of the innovation that will accelerate the development and deployment of zero-emissions transportation options, particularly as we decarbonize the goods movement sector,” said CARB Chair Liane Randolph.

In the future, Toyota’s plans for the new North American Hydrogen HQ will include a sustainable education center, available for tours by reservation. The center will be a place for people to learn more about Toyota’s vision of sustainability and the role that hydrogen will play.

30+ Years of Development
From creating one of the world’s first mass market passenger fuel cell electric vehicles in the Mirai, to applying and scaling the technology now to other applications that can benefit from zero-emissions, including heavy-duty transportpower generation systems, and others, Toyota’s research and development with hydrogen fuel cell technology spans more than 30 years.

For much of that time, the Gardena office supported or initiated a wide range of fuel cell electric projects. To share some recent examples, the Fuel Cell Development (FCD) team was instrumental in supporting the development of Toyota’s light-duty Mirai, launched back in 2015, and the team collaborated with industry partners to help support infrastructure growth through the state of California.

In 2017, to address decarbonization efforts at local ports, Toyota’s FCD team helped prove the scalability of fuel cell technology after it acquired a Class 8 truck and fitted it with a fuel cell electric powertrain consisting of two Mirai fuel-cell stacks. This effort then led to a collaboration with PACCAR’s Kenworth brand to build 10 proof-of-concept trucks, trucks used to support the “Shore to Store” ZANZEFF project that proved the viability of hydrogen-powered fuel cells as a zero-emission powertrain in heavy-duty applications. PACCAR and Toyota later agreed in 2023 to pursue commercialization of the project, with Toyota supplying the fuel cell powertrain kits from its Kentucky plant as a Tier 1 supplier.

Most recently, Toyota has demonstrated a non-automotive opportunity for hydrogen-powered fuel cell technology in stationary power generation. Toyota and TRD partnered to build a stationary unit to provide electricity at events where it was not readily available, launching the first public activation at an LPGA Tour stop where the unit supported the power needs of the event stage and sound system. The solution provided clean, quiet power that was proven to capably replace traditional diesel generators. Last year, Toyota built a 1MW fuel cell electric generator for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Colorado to support microgrid testing at the facility. And finally, earlier this year, Toyota collaborated with Kohler on a prototype stationary generator to provide backup emergency power for Klickitat Valley Health hospital in Goldendale, Washington.
