Three different Toyotas…none of them the Prius…have been given “green car” awards! Here at Burien Toyota, we think this speaks volumes to the dedication Toyota has to designing and creating all cars in environmental ways and we are proud to provide these models to our friends and neighbors in the Seattle-Tacoma area who also value protecting the environment.

The vehicles that won these green awards showcase the variety of vehicles that Toyota offers, all of which lead their class when it comes to being green.
The 2013 Toyota Avalon was named the Best Green Car at the Atlanta Auto Show; not bad for a full-sized sedan who competes with the likes of Buick and Lincoln. According to Torquenews.com, “What made the Avalon’s sales most fascinating was that fully 25% of the cars sold were hybrids according to Toyota. No other car maker sells a car this large, in this volume with such great fuel efficiency (except Lexus!).”

At Burien Toyota, we are proud to show people the 2013 Toyota Avalon.
“The 2013 Avalon gets a lot of attention because it really is a luxury vehicle at a non-luxury price,” said Ted Klarich, general sales manager at Burien Toyota. “To earn this green car award is really, really icing on the cake and goes to what we’ve been telling people all along: the Avalon is an affordable, smart, fuel efficient, luxury-quality vehicle.”
The 2013 Toyota Corolla LE Eco is not a hybrid or electric car and yet it is one of the leading-sellers and most fuel efficient economy cars on the market. In fact, it was a finalist in Green Car Journal’s annual Green Car of the Year Award. “This is first generation hybrid mileage territory from a very comfortable, very inexpensive, and shockingly large car…Volume matters when it comes to green cars. Cars with zero emissions that don’t sell don’t help the environment. The Corolla is the leading selling four-door in its enormous and affordable car class and it is also the most fuel efficient. It is also more fuel economical, less expensive, and cleaner running than its diesel rivals.”

Drivers expect smaller, economy cars to get great gas mileage and have a lighter appetite for gasoline. For the Toyota Corolla to be lead this huge segment of cars is, again, a pretty big deal.

“The Toyota Corolla has had made its name by being affordable, dependable and a gasoline sipper,” said Klarich. “It’s great the Corolla is being recognized as one of the greenest vehicles in its class.”

The Southern California based Green Car Guide chose the 2013 Toyota RAV4 EV as the top green car of the year, let alone in its crossover class! As pointed out by Torquenews.com, “The company did not pick the Leaf, the Tesla Model S or the Volt.”
The RAV4 EV is a marriage of two of the greenest companies in the world: Toyota and Tesla, who combined their expertise to create an electric driving machine that drivers are familiar and comfortable enough with to haul their families in.

“The RAV4 EV is a statement that Honda will work with others to create the ultimate green vehicle for consumers, and it’s not a small commuter car,” Klarich said. “The RAV4 EV puts the RAV4 name and reputation together with the incredible Tesla engineering at a pretty affordable price.”
