Thinking of Boston, Cove to Clover Races

As we watched the news this week, our minds and hearts were captivated by the bombings at the Boston Marathon, the victims, and the pursuit and capture of perpetrators of these attacks. As we watched and thought about all this, we at Burien Toyota, could not help but think about the Cove to Clover charity races we are sponsoring that are happening next week on April 28  (see a complete article about the Cove to Clover HERE).

Of course the Boston Marathon is a much bigger race than the Wee Race, 5/10K, and Half-Marathon of the Cove to Clover, but all races have something in common: they are about community.

We certainly don't want to use the attacks on the Boston Marathon to bring more attention to the Cove to Clover, but we wanted to remind people that while you may not be able to directly help the victims in Boston, you can still help your local community. Perhaps now, considering everything that has happened this past week, the best thing we can do is come together as a community

Maybe you want a way to express your frustration or resilience (or any other emotion) by joining the community as a runner in one of the races (100% of registration fees go to local charities). Or maybe you want to honor victims by making a donation but don't know where to give. The Cove to Clover event may be the perfect event for you because there are opportunities to sponsor student runners, donate running shoes to kids who need them, and more.

Even if you don't run or donate any money, just standing along the route to cheer on your fellow-community members may allow a sense of triumph and healing to come to us all. As a country, as a community, we will continue to run, we will continue to do good.

We, at Burien Toyota, are thinking of the community of Boston, the running community, and our own local community. While there may be people out there who would do us harm, we, like many of you, are dedicated to making the positive difference that we can, for as long as we are here.
