Seattle Public Schools Needs Advertising
Seattle Public Schools (SPS) is putting its newly adopted advertising policy to use. The district says in order to publish a district calendar for the 2012-2013 school year, it's seeking ad sponsors to help pay for production.
In a statement released to the media, Lesley Rogers, Chief Communications Officer for the district, said:
“During these lean budget times, many school districts have eliminated their calendar or placed it in an online-only format, which isn’t easily accessible to all families, especially those without regular Internet access. With these sponsorship dollars, we can continue to provide our staff and families with this useful information.”In June, the school board agreed to bring back the advertising program, allowing the district to sell ad space on outdoor sports stadiums and the calendar. The newly updated policy can be viewed online.
SPS says its annual calendar reaches 55,000 families, staff and community members every year. Interested businesses, nonprofits and community organizations can buy ad space in one or more months for the calendar.
